Néolia creates a private cloud on Oracle Database Appliances

With the aim of retaining total control over their data and modernizing their ERP, Néolia chose to build a private cloud based on three Oracle Database Appliances to combine performance, security and agility.

Background and challenges

To meet the IT Department's growing control and compliance requirements, while taking advantage of the benefits of the cloud, Néolia wanted to rethink its database infrastructure.

Customer's field of activity :

Néolia is an Entreprise Sociale pour l'Habitat, a subsidiary of the Action Logement group, managing 28,000 housing units in Franche-Comté and Alsace. It deploys its services on some thirty sites and employs nearly 500 people.

Support mode :

DEEP provided its Oracle expertise to design and deploy a private cloud architecture on Oracle Database Appliance. The teams accompanied Néolia from the initial audit to the go-live, guaranteeing compliance with deadlines and security requirements.

Néolia: deployment of an ODA private cloud

Mission objectives

  • Guarantee data control: centralize and encrypt databases in a private cloud.
  • Update ERP: upgrade to a stable, high-performance platform.
  • Optimize synchronization times: reduce replication times from 9 h to less than 2 h.
  • Ensure compliance & performance: meet Action Logement group standards while offering increased capacities.

The support process

DEEP first carried out a complete audit of Néolia's existing infrastructure (flows, volumes, SLAs), then designed a private architecture on three Oracle Database Appliances, sized to support ERP version upgrades and guarantee data security.

The teams physically installed and configured the three ODAs, set up Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Data Guard, automated backups and applied network hardening (firewalling, encryption). Everything was validated to Action Logement standards.

During the planned switchover window, DEEP migrated the ERP to the new platform, tested performance (replication < 2 h) and trained Néolia's DBAs in ODA best practices. Post-production support ensured a smooth start-up.

Customer benefits

  • Accelerated synchronization: environments can now be replicated in less than 2 hours, compared with 9 hours previously.

  • Rapid version upgrades: the ERP was updated in 4 months, on schedule.

  • Optimized data access: 4,000 daily processing operations for all functions.

  • Capacities extended for new projects: launch of BI overhaul and acquisition of an additional ODA.
